Larry Korman

Co-CEO

Larry Korman is Co-CEO of Korman Communities, a fourth-generation residential real estate company, and President of AKA Hotel Residences, a visionary hotel company who pioneered the furnished apartment. Larry’s father Steven Korman, founder of Korman Communities invited him to join the family business in 1986, and to use his studies to maximize the efficiency of his family's operations. Larry, along with his brother Brad as Co-CEO, created KormanSuites in 1995 to take the furnished apartment concept to a higher level, by developing and acquiring new mid-rise apartment communities in some of the most dynamic locations on the East Coast.

By branding the 23 garden-style apartment communities into Korman Communities, Larry and Brad established Korman Communities as a dominating force in multi-family housing. By 2004, recognizing a need for luxury flexible-stay residences with hotel services, Korman made the decision to expand in a new direction. With Korman Communities as the parent company, Larry created a new collection, AKA, in a venture to acquire, reposition and transform high-rise properties in the most desired metropolitan locations in the world. With properties in New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles , Washington, DC, and London, AKA's unique approach to design, service, and unparalleled amenities has resulted in recognition from prestigious outlets such as the BBC and Serviced Apartment Awards as the most luxurious extended-stay brand in the world.

Larry is also a member of the Board of Overseers at Penn Design, the Chairman of the Board of the Philadelphia Film Society and co-chair of the Philadelphia Film Festival.  In May 2017, Larry became a Drexel Trustee, and is proud to continue the legacy of the Korman family at Drexel, which includes The Korman Center, previously known as the Drexel Library, dedicated in 1977 in honor of Samuel Korman and the late Max Korman who also studied Architecture in the Evening School.  Larry and his wife Korin live in Fort Washington, PA in the last residential commission of Louis Kahn.
